The definition of a honeymoon.

noun

a holiday spent together by a newly married couple.

Honeymoons are a great way for newlyweds to spend quality time together as husband and wife. It is a great time to unwind and de-stress together after all the wedding planning and organising that goes into planning a wedding. Seychelles is a sought after honeymoon destination due to its beautiful beaches, azure blue seas and wonderful accommodation.

Seychelles has a lot more to offer newlyweds than the four walls of the hotel they stay in. Each hotel is unique and beautiful and has a variety of activities and food to enjoy. Here are our top 5 things to do on honeymoon while in the Seychelles.

1. Relax and unwind

Many months of planning and organising goes into planning your perfect wedding day. A momentous day like you Wedding Day does not just happen without a serious amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Your wedding day was without a doubt the most beautiful and happiest day of your life. On honeymoon you can catch your breath and enjoy time together as husband and wife. Your hotel will no doubt cater for your every need and you are able to relax without having to worry about doing the dishes, making the bed or worrying about what to make for dinner.

Spend time relaxing on the beach together enjoying a cocktail or taking a swim in the crystal cleaar warm water. Why not read a book, have a nap and enjoy the peace and tranquillity the beautiful beaches offer.

2. Snorkelling

Snorkelling is a magical activity of discovering the underwater world. It does not require any training (unlike diving) and you can snorkel anywhere with a pair of goggles and a snorkel. Your hotel will offer snorkelling excursions and snorkelling equipment so make sure you enquire about the snorkelling activities available.

If you would like to go snorkelling we  highly recommend snorkelling with your spouse or a friend – never underestimate the ocean, so do not snorkel alone. Make sure you apply a lot of sunscreen to avoid getting burnt and ensure your goggles fit properly to avoid water leaking in. If you can, take an underwater camera with you,(you can buy disposable underwater cameras), to capture the incredible beauty you see under the waves. You will see a huge variety of fish including octopus, turtles, rays and coral that float effortlessly and gracefully in the water.

Just remember to watch from above and not disturb or break any of the coral or fish.

Our top snorkelling spots include…

– St. Anne Marine National Park, Mahe
– The Vista Bay Rocks, Beau Vallon Bay, Mahe
– Coco Island
– Curieuse Island
– Anse Lazio, Praslin

3. Guided tour through the tourist spots

When travelling to a new country there are so many wonderful and beautiful places to visit. Ask your hotel front desk for recommendations for tour guides who can take you to the top spots around the island. Visit places like Baie Lazare Church, Cousin Island to see birds like the Seychelles Warbler and the wedge-tailed shearwater. Consider taking a walk through the lush vegetation at Morne Seychellois National Park or Vallée de Mai National Park. A highlight in Seychelles, is to visit the giant tortoises at Curieuse Island. Watching these beautiful old creatures lumbar around majestically is definitely one for the books.

To top it all off why not take a helicopter ride and see the beautiful islands from above. Observe the white beach sand washing into the crystal blue sea from a bird’s eye view. There is nothing more romantic than exploring the skies together while watching the world below.

4. Water activities

The ocean is an expansive place that offers huge potential for a variety of activities such as snorkelling (discussed above), paragliding, windsurfing, jet-skiing, stand up paddling and kayaking (to name a few). All these activities are a wonderful way to spend time together while enjoying the great outdoors. Most hotels offer these water activities, so we suggest enquiring at the front desk for rental of equipment as well as a staff member who can help you.

Another wonderful opportunity is to board a yacht and sail around the island observing the beautiful coast line, enjoying the wind in your hair and exploring new areas of the island.

5. Visit the spa

Most hotels offer spa services. The beauticians and staff at the spa salons have immense experience and offer relaxing and calming treatments such as massages, pedicures, facials and more. Treat you and your spouse to a relaxing massage while gazing at the beach and letting the repetitive sound of the waves calm you while the beauty therapist works her magic by helping you get rid of your stress and tension with a wonderful hot stone massage or treating yourself to have beautiful toes to walk the beaches with.
