THE TAKAMAKA BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? In our opinion it’s one of the best drinks all year round, in hot or cold weather, and especially around the Holiday time. We give you Christmas in a mug – an easy and deliciously indulgent drinking dessert spiked with divine caramel undertones from our Takamaka Extra Dark Rum, topped with fluffy mini-marshmallows and dark chocolate shavings. So cosy up with your favourite Christmas movie and drink up!

SERVES 2

INGREDIENTS

4 tsp Cocoa Powder

1 tsp Cinnamon

100g Dark Chocolate + extra for shavings (extra optional)

500ml Milk

Brown Sugar to taste

30ml Takamaka Extra Dark Rum (or to taste)

Mini-Marshmallows (optional)

 

METHOD

  1. Pour the milk into a sauce pan and bring to the boil
  2. Reduced the heat, add the chocolate and cinnamon. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted. Add cocoa powder, sugar and the Takamaka Extra Dark Rum.
  3. Simmer for a further minute of two before turning off the heat
  4. Pour the chocolatey mixture into your favourite holiday mug and top with mini-marshmallows and chocolate shavings.
  5. Want to make it a little more gourmet and really treat yourself? Swirl some whipped cream over the top before adding the marshmallows and chocolate shavings. Go on!
